The KC Freeze went 5-0 to capture first place in the American Fastpitch Association (AFA) 16-and-under Missouri State Championship July 7-9 in Columbia. The Freeze, coached by John Thompson and Bud Schanz, also tied for seventh place at the AFA 16U-A National Championships last week at Hidden Valley Park and also qualified for the American Softball Association (ASA) 16U National Championship this week in Sioux Falls, S.D.
